Newborn Specialists of Tulsa provides neonatology services in Eastern Oklahoma, working at Hillcrest Medical Center, Hillcrest Hospital South, and Saint John Medical Center, all in Tulsa, OK. area. The physicians and nurse practitioners of Newborn Specialists of Tulsa are dedicated to providing compassionate, quality care to your special infant.
The birth of a baby is a time of great anticipation and excitement. Although most pregnancies result in the birth of a healthy baby, approximately 10-15% of newborns have a problem that may require the advice and expertise of a Neonatologist and care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for special evaluation and treatment.
If your baby is premature, has a serious illness or birth defect, a Neonatologist may assist at the time of delivery and in the subsequent care of your baby. A Neonatologist is a pediatrician trained specifically to handle the most complex high-risk situations as well as low birth weight and premature babies.
Working side by side with our Neonatologists, are our advanced practice registered nurse practitioners (APRN-CNP) who are nationally certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (APRN-CNP).
Newborn Specialists of Tulsa Neonatologists work in tandem with obstetricians, pediatric surgeons, developmental/behavioral pediatricians and other pediatric specialists to provide an unbroken chain of care for you and your infant.
We are also a member of the Vermont Oxford Neonatal Network and National Perinatal Information Center – organizations that focus on clinical outcomes, quality improvement and national standards. We participate in several multi-centered national/international clinical trials to evaluate treatments to improve survival and reduce long-term complications in premature children.
